The Near East in Biblical Times
A "Hebraically-correct" map
of many of the places mentioned throughout Scripture.
It is truly "oriented"--that is, aligned toward the east instead of the north. The camps of Israel that were on the east side of the tabernacle were those that went first when the cloud moved, and the Hebrew word for "east" means "forward" as well, yet it also means "toward what is ancient". This tells us so much! It's not "back to the future" we must pursue, but "forward to the past", for in going back to the ancient covenants, we approach the "way of eternity" and can retrace our steps back to Eden so we can do better this time around.
